Section 1 Getting in from a dock
Learning kayaking is a simple and fun thing. We have compiled very practical teaching animations about kayaking for you. We will start with the basic boarding and disembarking techniques. The entire content covers: from boarding and disembarking to resetting self rescue techniques, and is divided into 20 lessons. I hope everyone has a pleasant time。
Getting in and out of the kayak is easy if you know the tricks. Probably the best place to do it is from a low dock. But before you hop in, remember to check your equipment.
First make sure that you are wearing a life vest and that it is properly fitted. If you are using a spray skirt, it is a good idea to fold it up so that you will not accidentally sit over it when entering the kayak. Remember to place the paddle so that you will reach it easily.
(Keep in mind that when you move your weight over the kayak, it needs to be exactly at the centreline. Otherwise the kayak will tip. So first take a firm hold from the back of the cockpit coaming and check that your feet are at also near the centreline.)
Lift yourself up while keeping your weight mainly on your hands. Move your bottom inside the cockpit.Getting out of the kayak is done in the same way but in opposite order.
Attention:
1. When boarding the kayak, the first foot will step on the side of the centerline near the dock (so that the kayak will not float away when applying force)
2. When two legs enter the kayak, they are in a cross legged state and then extended, and the same goes for when exiting the kayak. First make the legs curl up, then apply force.
3. Try to lower the entire center of gravity and use your legs to control the distance between the boat and the dock.
Additionally, it is emphasized that----
1. Protect the environment and cherish water resources (except for memories, we do not leave any pollution on the environment)
2. Lifejackets must be worn for water sports.
